چکیده

We have evaluated the information theoretical performance of variable rate adaptive channel coding for Rayleigh fading channels. The channel states are detected at the receiver and fed back to the transmitter by means of a noiseless feedback link. Based on the channel state informations, the transmitter can adjust the channel coding scheme accordingly. Coherent channel and arbitrary channel symbols with a fixed average transmitted power contraint are assumed. The channel capacity and the error exponent are evaluated and the optimal rate control rules are found for Rayleigh fading channels with feedback of channel states. It is shown that the variable rate scheme can only increase the channel error exponent. The effects of additional practical constraints and finite feedback delays are also considered. Finally, we compare the performance of the variable rate adaptive channel coding in high bandwidth-expansion systems (CDMA) and high bandwidth-efficiency systems (TDMA).

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Error Exponents Analysis of Dual-hop \eta-\mu and \kappa-\mu Fading Channel with Amplify-and-Forward Relaying

In this study, the authors investigate the Gallager’s error exponents of dual-hop amplify-and-forward systems over generalised η-μ and κ-μ fading channels, two versatile channel models which encompass a number of popular fading channels such as Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, Hoyt and one-sided Gaussian fading channels. The authors present new analytical expressions for the probability density fu...

Error Exponents for Multipath Fading Channels: A Strong Coding Theorem

We derive upper and lower bounds on the probability of error (the exponents of which are the error exponents) with “peaky” signaling — the signaling strategy that achieves the capacity of the multipath fading channel under an average power constraint in the limit of infinite bandwidth. These bounds constitute a strong coding theorem for the channel as they not only delimit the range of achievab...

Wireless Channel Modeling Based on Finite-state Markov Model

In this paper, a wireless channel is viewed as a heterogeneous network in the time domain, and an adaptive video transmission scheme for H.264 scalable video over wireless channels modeled as a finite-state Markov chain processes is presented. In order to investigate the robustness of adaptive video transmission for H.264 scalable video over wireless channels, statistical channel models can be ...

Rate Detection for Variable-rate Data Transmission in Cdma Communication Systems

Variable-rate data transmission is one of the key techniques to effectively reduce the mutual interference and as a result increase the link capacity in direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. To avoid frame overhead, a blind rate detection scheme that does not explicitly transmit any rate information of transmitted data has been proposed for use in the third-generation...
